Dr. Toni Carmichael Shares WDC's Story at National Louis University

On March 6, 2026, Wildlife Discovery Center President and Curriculum Director Dr. Toni Carmichael returned to National Louis University to share the inspiring story of WDC with the NLU community. As part of the Student and Alumni Research Presentations session hosted by the Student Alumni Advisory Board (SAAB), Dr. Carmichael presented alongside fellow doctoral students and alumni, offering attendees an inside look at how her doctorate from NLU has been instrumental in shaping WDC's educational mission and programming.

The session provided an opportunity for the NLU community to learn more about the doctoral research process, connect with other researchers, and see how academic work translates into real-world impact. Dr. Carmichael's presentation demonstrated exactly that—showing how rigorous doctoral training becomes the foundation for developing interactive, standards-aligned wildlife education programs that serve students across our community. Her work exemplifies how doctoral research can be answerable not only to academic standards but also to the communities it serves.

We're incredibly proud to have Dr. Carmichael leading our organization and sharing our story with the next generation of educational leaders at her alma mater!
