Making Waves at MEEA: WDC's Adventure on the Mississippi Coast
We had an awesome time in Biloxi, Mississippi where the Mississippi Environmental Education Alliance (MEEA) hosted the 12th annual Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance conference. This gathering brought together educators, researchers, and organizations from across the region to share their work and innovative ideas in environmental education.
Dr. Toni Carmichael and I proudly co-presented our work with the Wildlife Discovery Center in Tennessee, and we were thrilled by the warm reception from attendees. The conference provided incredible networking opportunities, and we're excited to announce that we'll be presenting again at next year's conference in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Even better - we'll have a table featuring some of our amazing animal ambassadors!
Between sessions, we took time to explore the beautiful Mississippi coastline and sample the local culture (and coffee shops - a must for any conference-goer!). We were particularly impressed by the Mississippi Aquarium. Though only established five years ago, they're already making a significant impact on environmental education in the region.
These conferences always reignite our passion for our work. Meeting fellow professionals and sharing ideas reminds us why we do what we do - connecting people with wildlife and fostering environmental stewardship. The Wildlife Discovery Center continues its legacy of providing innovative environmental education programs throughout our region.
We're especially excited to deepen our involvement with the Tennessee Environmental Education Association! Truly, we are blessed that God has opened so many doors for us since relocating to the Memphis area. Our journey of bringing hands-on wildlife experiences to schools across in the Mid-South is just beginning, and we can't wait to see where it takes us next!
